Being able to see the landscape as an artist is an overlooked skill, but it is how a painting always starts.
Once you learn this, you will start to see the endless beauty which is all around us. You will see painting opportunities and find inspiration that did not seem to exist before.
In this workshop, we will explore concepts and approaches to painting landscape. We will work with Alla prima (wet on wet) technique in oil (acrylic painters are welcome).
Students will plan, design, sketch and paint new compositions each session. This class will reinforce traditional fundamentals, including drawing using the sight-size method, design, colour theory, values, focal point emphasis, simplification of detail, and soft edges.
We will talk about how to show a sense of depth and atmospheric mood to the painting.
This is a fun and relaxed atmosphere that will push everyone to paint and enjoy the beautiful sceneries in Ottawa. Health-safety measures, including masking and social distancing, will be practiced.

| We will have two series of classes, one on weekdays and one on weekends. Please send me your preferred days and time of the day, so I can pick the best time slot to satisfy everyone. | |
| In each session, we will explore the fundamentals for 45 minutes. You'll start painting, and I'll give you critiques and finish the work together. |
